On their description, it says that included is "1 Extra Character Slot Code". I'm a bit confused as to what is meant by that, whether buying the collector's edition means an EXTRA character slot in-addition to the 2/4, or does it just mean the 2/4 extra ones from purchasing factions?

There is no extra slot, No matter what version of factions you get and merge with, you will get a total of 6 slots.

Arghh. Ok, do NOT trust descriptions of the CE on any other site but the official GW site, which explains that the CE has the same slots as the Regular edition. (4 stand alone, 2 merged).

this has been too long to be anything but rampant incompetence, not checking facts , and continuing to post this to unsuspecting people hoping for an extra slot.

there is no extra slot as mentiond by the reps, GW site itself,

and many, many threads here and other sites.

availability: Due for release on 05/05/2006

er...? I want to pre-order it from Play since I know theyare good company, but that release date is confusing.

Gaile said earlier that the CE were scheduled for shipping at the same time as the regular.

there has been no official note on the GW site of a CE delay

In the UK we have what we call 'Trading Standards'

A governmental department who protects the public from false advertising.

This clearly falls under a false 'trade descriptions act'

Its not good saying "oh they've just not checked" they have a legal obligation to ensure their advert is correct, other wise they are breaking the law.

you wouldnt be very happy if you bought something and didnt get what was advertised.

You're right, of course. But anyone who recognizes the slot issue probably does... or at least should visit guildwars.com to get the official list of features.

actually they are shorting their description

If you merge accounts you get 2 slots not one. They may be going off the old CGW preview where they said you get 1 extra slot. Literally if you merge they are saying you get less than what is advertised, not more.

They dont mention the 2 extra character slots by merging, or the extra emote/dances, they clearly have a case of needing to update to some info newer than feburary.

also notice they make no mention of merging with the regular edition, i believe this is a case of they need to update their info, no mention of merging accounts or getting extra charaters are mentioned in the regular edition. So if anything They are guilty for having old info up.

The pricing is unusually high for Play. I wonder in NCsoft are refusing to supply them, so they are buying them in from another retailer (ie the one selling the standard edition for £17.99 and the CE for £37.99) and selling them on. That would explain why they are more expensive thatn usual and a week later.

Not sure Tescos would be on Reseller Ratings...unless RR does supermarkets.

I'm sure they would honour the price though...

Thanks to a guildie who pointed me in the direction of this - another guildie bought it and used some Clubcard vouchers and got the CE for £25...
